About   the   show  //////////////////////////

A three word title in the Morning Calm Country language : AhnSim Dance.

Let's analyze it from the end :

For « Dance », well... no need of translation.

« Sim » can be translated in English by "mind" or state of mind".

« Ahn » . it's the name of the choreographer, the name of a woman bursting with energy and joie de vivre who moves everything on her way : codes, conventions... and - above all - people. But "Ahn" also means "comfortable", "safe" in Korean.

Natural disasters, terrorist attacks, economical crisis, ... The least we can say is that we are living troubled times. Yet, the same message comes again and again : "Everything is fine. Don't worry. We take care of you." We are repeatedly told that we live in united societies in which everyone can find a place. Yet some are left aside along the way...

For the fist part of the trilogy about handicap and difference, Eun-Me Ahn has chosen to work with visually-impaired people.

On stage, amateur and professional dancers are on a equal footing. With white sticks as unique props (successively becoming swings, clocks, taxi or a pillory), they take us into a chiaroscuro world, going from a dream ethereal univers in which black and white prevail, to a Technicolor one where the visually-impaired évoque with humour and a touching innocence the sometimes cruel and often revolting reality of their everyday-life and their handicap. But no pathos here... on the contrary.

It is joie de vivre, taking its roots in an amazing survival force, that prevails in a whirlwind of color and energy such as only Eun-Me Ahn knows how to create.

Ahnsim Dance is a manifesto against indeifference, a call to awareness :

"If we all want to feel safe, we need to open the eyes and act. And this is going to happen through others, because together we are stronger and we can make something beautiful."
